What’s your favorite number? Turns out, if you put any stock in numerology, my “life path number” is 3, you can find your number here. Makes sense, as I look back on my life the people and things that are my greatest sources of pride, strength, love and frustration all come in threes...including my kids. Hi Kids!
Anywho, so following my theme of threes, from time to time I’ll post blog entries or social media posts that feature a quick little nugget of 3 things. These bite sized lists are designed to give you enough practical information that you can retain and apply, and gives you a base from which to expand your knowledge, and try something new!
We’ve all seen those blog posts “50 ways to use coconut oil” or even “15 uses for lavender”. I don’t know about you but my life, and my attention span, doesn’t really allow me the time it takes to read such a ridiculously long list of potential uses. I like my lists short and sweet so I can retain the information and move on with the rest of my day.
I hope this style resonates with you also! Below you will find 3 oils that are essential to healthy skin
Among other high-grade active natural oils The Amber Essence Velvet Body Oil also contains pomegranate oil for it’s anti-oxidant skin loving properties. Oh, and as a special order I can add frankincense or other essential oil to your purchase of Amber Essence Luxurious Body Creme for a total body experience.
- Pomegranate Oil - Rich in essential fatty acids, pomegranate oil is also one of the few oils to contain the essential Omega-5 fatty acid Punicic, which supports skin hydration and moisture retention. Packed with vitamin C and K, pomegranate oil has amazing effective and lovely moisturizer. It’s dry feel absorbs quickly without a heavy oily feeling. Its high antioxidant values, helps promote soft, supple skin and aids in reducing the appearance of fine lines. It will also give dull skin a nice, natural shine. This beautiful light amber color oil has natural but very low SPF properties, and some lab studies have shown pomegranate oil to be possibly effective against some skin cancers. *Always seek a doctor’s advice when you suspect you may have a serious medical condition
- Frankincense - This ancient oil has been imparting its gifts for beauty and wellness for centuries. Frankincense improves skin’s tone, texture, and appearance. It reduces the appearance of blemishes, fades the appearance of scars, and soothes dry cracked skin, and may also be a beneficial as part of an anti-cancer lifestyle. It has a wonderful earthy scent pairs well with other lighter scents as well.
- Lavender - One of the main components of lavender is a natural chemical called linalool. Oils that are rich in linalool are soothing and have the ability to calm your mind, your nerves, and your skin. I once made a lavender water body splash….amaaaazing! Cool, lightly scented, and so refreshing...perfect for those “personal summer” moments. And it’s antimicrobial & antibacterial properties help dissolve the dirt and bacteria that can clog pores and dull your complexion. Researchers have also studied the effect of adding lavender to a massage for the temporary relief of lower back pain
When applying essential oils such as, Frankincense or Lavender, topically (to your skin) you must first dilute the oil in what as known as a carrier oil such as olive oil, sweet almond, sunflower seed, or avocado oil. These oils help “carry” the properties of the essential oils deep into your skin. Consider using avocado oil, especially if you have a nut or seed allergy. It’s a fast absorbing oil that will penetrate deeply into your skin taking with it all of the nutrients from the avocado and the essential oil you add to it...bonus points! If you have certain skin sensitivities may want to do a patch test first before diving too deep into essential and carrier oils. Lavender oil may cause skin reactions especially if not properly diluted. Pure, undiluted essential oils may be too concentrated to safely apply directly to your skin, but when mixed with other oils or lotions essential oils can provide a natural fragrance and may provide other health benefits as well.
